The University of Dallas is a private, independent Catholic University, founded in 1956. The school is headquartered in Irving, Texas. Dallas serves over 2,500 students and offers an 11:1 student-to-faculty ratio. UD is known for its high participation rate in international programs. The school offers programming through its Braniff Graduate School of Liberal Arts, Constantin College of Liberal Arts, Satish & Yasmin Gupta College of Business, and the School of Ministry. 2) Mount Saint Joseph University
Saint Joseph is a private, Catholic university in the unincorporated community of Mount Saint Joseph, near Cincinnati, Ohio. It was founded in 1920. The school offers offers 39 undergraduate programs, nine associate degrees, along with pre-professional and certificate programs. It also has graduate programs in business administration, education, organizational leadership, religious studies, nursing, and physical therapy. 3) Molloy College
Molloy is a private, Catholic college in Long Island, New York. It was founded in 1955. The school offers degrees in liberal arts, social and natural sciences, nursing, business, education, social work, speech therapy, music therapy, theatre arts, criminal justice, and new media. Nearly 5,000 students attend Molloy, which offers a 10:1 student-to-faculty ratio. USNR ranks Molloy 25th in Regional Universities North, and 50th in Best Value Schools for 2019. Molloy is known for having an incredible high retention rate, currently 88% among freshman, which is a sign of student satisfaction.
Molloy offers a host of online programs. 4) Franciscan University of Steubenville
Franciscan is a private, co-ed Catholic university in Ohio. It offers 40 undergraduate and 8 graduate programs. The vast majority of students are majoring in theology, catechetics, and philosophy. Franciscan was founded in 1946 as the College of Steubenville by the Franciscan Friars of the Third Order Regular at the behest of Bishop Mussio. It gained university status in 1980. Over 2,900 students attend Franciscan, which has a 14:1 student-to-faculty ratio. USNR ranks it 11th in the Regional Universities Midwest and 15th in the Best Value Schools categories in 2019.
Franciscan planned to offer fully online associate degrees in theology and philosophy starting in 2017. It’s unclear whether those plans have come to fruition, but you can contact the school directly to request more information if you’re interested. 5) Creighton University
Creighton is a private, Roman Catholic university founded in 1878. It’s based out of Omaha, Nebraska. It is one of 28 members of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities, and Nebraska’s largest religious university. Creighton offers undergraduate and graduate degrees through colleges of Arts & Sciences, Business, Nursing, Dentistry, Medicine, Pharmacy & Health Professions, Law, and more. 6) Saint Louis University
Saint Louis University is a private Catholic research university with its main campus located in St. Louis, Missouri. The university was founded in 1818. It’s the oldest university west of the Mississippi River. The university also has a campus based in Madrid, Spain. USNR ranks SLU 106th among National Universities in 2019. Over 14,500 students attend SLU, which has the low student-to-faculty ratio of 9 to 1. It offers approximately 100 undergraduate programs and 80 post-baccalaureate programs, and over 20 completely online programs. From 1985 to 1992 the Chairman of its Board of Trustees was the younger brother of former President George H.W. Bush, William H. T. Bush, who also taught classes at the school.
Saint Louis has a bevy of online programs available. One uncommon program is an Aviation Management Bachelor’s that comes in a Helicopter Pilot Preparation concentration. 7) Misericordia University
Misericordia is a Catholic liberal arts university in Dallas, Pennsylvania. It was founded by the Religious Sisters of Mercy in 1924. Over 2,700 students attend the school, which has a 12:1 student-to-faculty ratio. The school offers bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees as well as post-master’s and post-bachelor’s certificates. In 2007 Miseridcordia earned its university status. 8) University of Mary
The University of Mary is a private Catholic university that was established in 1959. Its campus is located about four miles south of Bismark, North Dakota, and it is the only private Catholic university in the state. Nearly 3,400 students attend the school, which has a 14:1 student-to-faculty ratio. The school began by offering nursing and education degrees, but today offers over 65 degrees including accounting, Catholic studies, and much more. 10) University of Saint Francis-Fort Wayne
USF is a private, Catholic, liberal arts university in Fort Wayne, Indiana. It was founded in 1890. Over 2,300 students attend Saint Francis, which has a 10:1 student-to-faculty ratio. 11) Lewis University
Lewis is a Roman Catholic university in Illinois that was established in 1932. It serves over 6,600 students through more than 80 undergraduate majors and 22 graduate programs, in addition to accelerated programs for adults. Lewis confers degrees through colleges and schools of Arts and Sciences, Business, Education, Nursing and Health Professions, and Professional and Continuing Education. Brescia is a private, Catholic university in Owensboro, Kentucky. It was founded in 1925 as a junior college for women, but now offers coed programs at the undergraduate and graduate level. 13) Newman University
Newman is a private, Catholic, coed liberal arts university in Wichita, Kansas. It was founded in 1933, and is named in honor of John Henry Cardinal Newman, poet, theologian and Catholic priest then cardinal. The school offers undergraduate and graduate degrees. 14) Carlow University
Carlow is a private, co-ed Catholic university in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It was founded in 1929 by the Sisters of Mercy. Chaminade is a private, co-ed Catholic university in Honolulu, Hawaii. It was founded in 1955. The school offers bachelor’s degrees in 23 fields of study and five master’s degree programs. Saint Francis University is a private, Catholic liberal arts university in Loretto, Pennsylvania. It was founded in 1847 by the Franciscan Friars of the Third Order Regular. Marquette is a private, coed Catholic University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It was founded in 1881 by John Martin Henni, the first Bishop of Milwaukee. Its eleven schools offer dozens of undergraduate degrees in liberal arts, business, communications, education, engineering, law, and health sciences. 23) Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College
SMWC is a private, Roman Catholic liberal arts college in Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana. It was founded in 1840, and is the oldest Catholic college in the state. Currently, there are just over 950 students, and the school offers an 8:1 student-to-faculty ratio.
